Environment Protection

Environmental Sanitation has been recognised as an essential benefit in the life of man due to its health benefits. As a result, a range of sensitisation technologies and approaches have emerged over time.  In spite of the efforts made in this direction, poor sanitation is still prevalent in Ghana, which retards progress.

Rescue Volunteers Ghana has therefore expanded its scope to include an environmental protection program.  Activities under this program include;

  • routine tree planting;
  • clean-up exercise;
  • effective hygiene education;
  • sporting activities (Keep fit clubs);
  • waste management (separation of waste for recycling); and

The above is backed by continuous monitoring and evaluation for effective implementation of environmental sanitation.  Focus is on the youth and children in order to make sanitation a constant part of the Ghanaian.

Rescue Volunteers has started the tree planting program along the coastal communities in Accra and in the Northern zone of Ghana, hoping to spread over to other parts of the country.  The first phase of the waste management, clean-up and separation of was is scheduled to commence in April 2021
