March 1st brought together 27 elderly and 4 Rescue Volunteers staff at a retreat at Nungua, Accra. Activities ranged from exaltation, sharing of personal experience on COVID-19 pandemic, interaction with peers on current affairs and recreation. A follow-up program was held on Thursday, April 1st with 24 elderly and 5. Numbers are cut due to COVID-19 protocols. Vaccination of the elderly was the topic for the day. Discussion was very interactive and benefited all who were present at the program. The elderly were encouraged to keep the protocols as they go for the vaccine to be completely protected from the virus. More PPEs were distributed and their usage demonstrated. One key part that was stressed was the need to use tissue to hold taps to stop running water after hand wash in order not to contaminate their washed hands.
In separate interviews with the media after the program, the elderly were full of praises to Rescue Volunteers Ghana for their intervention in their lives and pray to the Good Lord to continue to bless and resource them so as to be able to continue with the good work they had started.
