The Campaign train for creating awareness and preventive measures which is driven by Rescue Volunteers Ghana in partnership with the Centre for National Culture arrived at Kpone Market. The timing of the program was superb because it fell on their market day this resulted into having awesome audience. Rescue Volunteers immediately started preaching about social distancing on arrival. When the dust settled, Rescue donated 2,100 nose masks to traders. This was to complement the theme of the project “Mask Up”. To also promote hand hygiene among traders, Rescue Volunteers distributed 350 pocket sized hand sanitizers.

The Country Director urged the traders that the physical exchange of money is one of the ways through, which the virus could be transferred and that they should sanitize their hands after serving customers or handling money. She went ahead and asked the traders to treat everyone as a potential carrier of the virus and that failure to adhere to the protocols could result in increasing cases of infection.

Rescue Volunteers has continually emphasized throughout this program that COVID-19 is still causing mayhem and that there was the need for good and stringent measures to protect and stem the spread of the virus. We remind the public that the second wave of the virus is claiming more lives.

The climax of market campaign was scheduled for Friday 26th February 2021 at the Arts Centre market in Accra. Here, representatives of the NCC, Ghana Police, chiefs and traditional leaders, market queens and executives of other markets in Accra, are expected to be present to be addressed by the head of the Covid-19 trust fund.

Rescue continues in Ernest to spread awareness nationwide till the pandemic is over. All are invited to join in spreading the news. Covid-19 is real, we entreat you to mask up.
