On August 21, the Rescue Team conducted the fourth Food Giveaway event to date. The project Area targeted for the organization fell under “Essential Needs” in which a fresh meal was handed out to the homeless and individuals around the area. The usual distribution would consist of mac and cheese portions paired with rice and chicken or turkey. However, conducted differently this time was placing orders of 100 cheeseburgers from a local McDonalds’ franchise. This amount was handed out successfully to those in the targeted area of Newark with the help of the volunteers who happily completed the work. The transportation and distribution of the items took a total of two hours, from 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.
For this event to come into fruition, the donations of the current Rescue USA members compiled throughout the year contributed to the budget of what was used to order the food items. Successfully, the order for the sandwiches were placed and provided for the smooth packaging into containers. Beverages like juice, soda and crucial water were also included in what an individual was handed. A variety of flavors like Brisk iced tea, Mountain Dew watermelon and Coke cherry were the choices. They were received well provided the humid weather the event was conducted on.
Once again, all went well due to the active participation of the volunteers who supported, contributed and continued their involvement in accomplishing the many areas of the Rescue Mission. The good work completed will continue to be done with the plans Rescue Volunteers is working to accomplish, grow and develop. Pictures and videos documented can be found in the gallery.
