The three basic needs essential to human survival are food, shelter and clothing. Individuals who have serious challenges in providing for themselves these three basic needs usually find themselves in the street.
Rescue Volunteers hold the belief that every individual deserves these fundamental necessities. With this conviction, they embrace the responsibility of regularly collecting and offering ready-to-eat cooked meals, pre-packaged food, canned goods, water, and beverage options to those in need, including both individuals and entire families.
Over the span of the year, we diligently amass contributions of clothing from various sources, meticulously categorizing them to align with both their respective sizes and the seasons they are best suited for. We make sure that thick, insulated clothes like winter coats, jackets, beanies, and scarves are set aside for locations in the United States during the colder months. On the other hand, we distribute short-sleeve or lightly lined long-sleeve shirts either to homes in Africa or these same garments find their purpose within shelters across the United States, extending solace to individuals grappling with challenges regardless of the season.
As mentioned earlier, RESCUE holds a strong commitment to enhancing the well-being of our communities. We achieve this by fulfilling their essential requirements for sustenance, clothing, and sanitation.
During the initial and most critical phases of the CoVID-19 pandemic, RESCUE recognized the importance of actively contributing to the containment of the virus and its impact on our community. In response, we took significant steps, incorporating items like face masks, hand sanitizers, and gloves into each package of donated goods. We also ensured that feminine care products such as pads, underwear, tampons, deodorant, and diapers were included, addressing the unique needs of different individuals. Throughout the entire process of planning, organizing, and distributing these donations, we maintained a strict adherence to proper hygiene protocols. Our team wore Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to safeguard both our volunteers and the recipients of these
items.
Our commitment remains steadfast even now. We persist in collecting these essential items and distributing them to those who require them the most. Our reach extends to vital institutions like shelters, nursing and community homes, as well as YMCA facilities, all of which play a pivotal role in safeguarding the well-being of individuals. Through our ongoing efforts, we continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
