Here at RESCUE we believe that proper knowledge and education is essential to the holistic development of a person. With this said we offer three(3) kinds of educational assistance:

To guide the Teens/Youth and urge them to make progressive decisions, it is important that a support system exists for them to comfortably ask questions about how to navigate their life opportunities. Rescue offers this area where individuals are paired with an experienced volunteer that will be in communication with them and act as a resource in attaining connections to career fields they may be interested in. The ultimate goal is to expose where their interests lie through coaching programs for professional development and possible internships or experiences available to them according to their age / grade levels. FPC collaboration Summer Mentorship Another Avenue we offer mentoring in is our one week almost camp style summer mentorship program catered specifically to k-12 students. The Program for August 2023 is hosted in collaboration with the First Presbyterian Church of Irvington (FPC) at 777 Grove Street New Jersey. Representatives from the Ghana branch of Rescue Volunteers will visit to host this activity and learning filled experience. Participants of this program will be able to engage with their diverse peers in the community while playing in-door and out-door games, sharing in story-telling and meaningful presentations of icons whose lifestyles are worth emulating. Each day will be a unique one where even the food provided will offer a taste of African and Caribbean dishes opening students’ palette to international cuisine. More details on how to get involved or sign up for the program will be in the “Events” tab of the Rescue site.

To give the extra academic help in these crucial subjects to the youth currently studying in school and are unable to receive the free resource to develop their skills in these concepts; we are providing elementary, middle and high schoolers the opportunity to be in less of a distracted and more healthy environment of learning. This would allow them the convenient access of an instructor that will answer all their questions and teach them at their individual pace to excel in their classes or be up to pace once they return to their academic institutions. This program was initiated with the intention to additionally provide tutoring assistance to highschoolers looking to take standardized tests such as the ACT, SAT and more to help in their preparation for it. Signups for the program will begin to be advertised in the first half of the 2024 school year to different schools and nearby communities so that a detailed list of interested grade levels can be made and catered to in time to start Summer lessons. The instructors for this program are licensed teachers or knowledgeable students in select fields volunteering their services and receiving a small compensation from donations raised towards this initiative.

To implement an online based teaching style for individuals interested in learning certain topics offered by Rescue for convenience, we are also planning on launching our YouTube channel soon. Areas our channel will cover will expect to be in:

Culinary arts

• Introduce people to healthy and convenient African and Caribbean dishes. We will highlight background information about the dishes along with the preparation process in a refined and simple manner. Recipe is shared to aid onward practice and provide flexibility in altering according to persons preference

Basic Stitching Techniques

• Introducing knowledge in basic sewing skills to individuals helps in mending clothes to save their money and time. Rescue Volunteers Inc. comes in with videos that can help you acquire this convenient skill. This includes customizing clothes to fit, fixing buttons; and hemming clothes to your right length. More information will be provided with the launch of this field.
