Orphan Care

Rescue Volunteers Liberia have at the heart of its activities orphan care program. Concentration is more on social orphans than the biological ones that are in orphanages. The concept is to assist in curbing activities that lead to increase of social orphans in our streets thereby retarding development.

Monrovia has been with a lot of biological orphans and good number of social orphans due to the war.  The effect of the war has left the country with a lot of challenges which prevent some from standing up for themselves.  The majority of identified orphans, who remain partially traumatised, shy away from engaging in group activities that will leverage their current vulnerable condition.

Rescue Volunteers therefore partners with organisations with similar objectives to conscientize these vulnerable groups to come out of their shells to first develop themselves and help others.  The lead organisation in agreement with Rescue Volunteers is the Human Development Foundation (HDF).

Volunteers from Ghana teamed up with orphan care program coordinators in Liberia to undertake a survey in some communities identified with social orphans.
