Infrastructural Development
Rescue Liberia is an organization working to build infrastructure and create a
sustainable entrepreneurial program in deprived areas of the country. The
organization recently demonstrated the advantages of collaborative efforts in
achieving infrastructural goals. Within early months of 2022, old structures were
turned into offices to be used temporarily by rescue volunteers. Family of the late
Major Alex K. Wondei played an exceptional role in this achievement.
Agricultural Development
To provide a practice-oriented training to cocoa farmers, Rescue initiated the
construction of demonstration farms and created a cocoa nursery. This would
enable them to learn the skill of cocoa farming more efficiently.
Train-the-Trainer
Train-the-Trainer program was held from February 17th to 22nd to teach people
about major processes in the cocoa value chain, such as nursing, transplanting,
weed and pest control, pruning existing trees, harvesting, storage, and
processing.
Rescue collaborated to assemble 25 family heads from 6 communities – Yekeyee
Selezo, Nyeany-ee, Zao-ya-ee-bengean, Duampa-Sele, Duay-ee Zodoe, and
Kpallah Nankarwon – from Brewerville City and its surrounding area. The
volunteers came together to form cooperatives, which were then taught about
cocoa farming and the cocoa value chain so they can pass on their knowledge to
others.
